Dear black child,
You'll grow old and gold,
You'll live the life you adore,
You'll shimmer like gold,
You'll rule until you grow old,
Your mama will reap the fruit
Of her labour before she turns old,
Forget the stories of the ancestors past,
Yours will be different and you'll enjoy
Every bit of it to the fullest.
Black Child.

Poet's note: I'm writing this poem to every black child, giving us hope that the lives of our ancestors are bygones, and that ours will be different. This poem gives me courage and I hope it does others.
