Nature through a window
Is like watching the green trees rush by
Catching the allure of the white, blue skies
And basking in the delight that the cosmos provides
It's like watching the fish go around,
And seeing new water creatures emerge
I'm fascinated by how the winds blow fire
And how the soil grows grains
Love thence is no different from the lion's roar
The concoction obstructing the passage to you
I can't feel, smell, or touch the climax of your care
And though I watch as the birds fly, I can't with them soar
My heart is in distress and I'm numbed by my state
I see the moon very clearly, but am consigned in a cage
I see the blistering sun, but in its warmth cannot bathe
The roots of my trees cannot spread to the roots of yours
I tried to do my best,
Tried to catch the things I couldn't get
But these were the farthest I could go
As all of the goodness passed me within seconds
Nature through a window
Is like looking but not seeing, breathing but not living
Struggling to get a glimpse, longing for the feeling
Condoling in the sad but true, come what may, I can't have you

Poet's note: Inspiration for this poem came as I sat traveling interstate in a vehicle. Grappling with another personal ordeal, I decided to put this into a poem.
