Venus' Advice To The Muses Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFF

Thus to the Muses spoke the Cyprian DameA
Adorn my altars and revere my nameA
My son shall else assume his potent dartsB
Twang goes the bow my girls have at your heartsB
The Muses answer'd Venus We derideC
The Vagrant's malice and his mother's prideC
Send him to nymphs who sleep on Ida's shadeD
To the loose dance and wanton masqueradeD
Our thoughts are settled and intent our lookE
On the instructive verse and moral bookE
On female idleness his power reliesF
But when he finds us studying hard he fliesF
