Still Dorinda I adoreA
Think I mean not to deceive youB
For I loved you much beforeA
And alas now love you moreA
Though I force myself to leave youB
-
Staying I my vows shall failC
Virtue yields as love grows strongerD
Fierce desires will prevailC
You are fair and I am frailC
And dare trust myself no longerD
-
You my love too nicely coyE
Lest I should have gain'd the treasureD
Made my vows and oaths destroyE
The pleasing hopes I did enjoyE
Of all my future peace and pleasureD
-
To my vows I have been trueB
And in silence hid my anguishF
But I cannot promise tooB
What my love may make me doB
While with her for whom I languishF
-
For in thee strange magic liesG
And my heart is too too tenderD
Nothing's proof against those eyesG
Best resolves and strictest tiesG
To their force must soon surrenderD
-
But Dorinda you're severeH
I much doting thus to severD
Since from all I hold most dearH
That you may no longer fearH
I divorce myself for everD
