Songs Set To Music: 24. Set By Mr. C. R. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGFG HIHI GEGE

Cloe beauty has and witA
And an air that is not commonB
Every charm in her does meetC
Fit to make a handsome womanB
-
But we do not only findD
Here a lovely face or featureE
For she's merciful and kindD
Beauty's answer'd by good natureE
-
She is always doing goodF
Of her favours never sparingG
And as all good Christians shouldF
Keeps poor mortals from despairingG
-
Jove the power knew of her charmsH
And that no man could endure 'emI
So providing 'gainst all harmsH
Gave to her the power to cure 'emI
-
And 'twould be a cruel thingG
When her black eyes have raised desireE
Should she not her bucket bringG
And kindly help to quench the fireE
