Songs Set To Music: 20. Set By Mr. De Fesch Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDEF GHGH

Since by ill fate I'm forced awayA
And snatch'd so soon from those dear armsB
Against my will I must obeyA
And leave those sweet endearing charmsB
-
Yet still love on and never fearC
But you and constancy will proveD
Enough my present flame to bearE
And make me though in absence loveF
-
For though your presence Fate deniesG
I feel alas the killing smartH
And can with undiscerned eyesG
Behold your picture in my heartH
