Cupid Turned Ploughman. - From Moschus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEEFFGGG

His lamp his bow and quiver laid asideA
A rustic wallet o'er his shoulders tiedA
Sly Cupid always on new mischief bentB
To the rich field and furrow'd tillage wentB
Like any ploughman toil'd the little godC
His tune he whistled and his wheat he sow'dD
Then sat and laugh'd and to the skies aboveE
Raising his eye he thus insulted JoveE
Lay by your hail your hurtful storms restrainF
And as I bid you let it shine or rainF
Else you again beneath my yoke shall bowG
Feel the sharp goad and draw the servile ploughG
What once Europa was Nannette is nowG
