A Passage In The Moriae Encomium Of Erasmus. Imitated Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEFFGG HHIIJJKKLL

In awful pomp and melancholy stateA
See settled Reason on the judgement seatB
Around her crowd Distrust and Doubt and FearC
And thoughtful Foresight and tormenting CareD
Far from the throne the trembling Pleasures standE
Chain'd up or exiled by her stern commandE
Wretched her subjects gloomy sits the queenF
Till happy chance reverts the cruel sceneF
And apish Folly with her wild resortG
Of wit and jest disturbs the solemn courtG
-
See the fantastic Minstrelsy advanceH
To breathe the song and animate the danceH
Bless'd the usurper happy the surpriseI
Her mimic postures catch our eager eyesI
Her jingling bells affect our captive earJ
And in the sights we see and sounds we hearJ
Against our judgement she our sense employsK
The laws of troubled reason she drestroysK
And in their place rejoices to inditeL
Wild schemes of mirth and plans of loose delightL
