Vignettes 01 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIK LMLM NONO PQPQ RSRS TCTC

If writing Journals were my taskA
From cottagers to kingsB
A little book I'd only askA
And fill it full of wingsB
-
Each pair should represent a dayC
On some the sun should riseD
While others bent their mournful wayC
Through cold and cloudy skiesD
-
And here I would the light'ning bringE
With threatening forked glareF
And there the hallowed rainbow flingE
Across the troubled airF
-
Some faint and wearily should glideG
Their broken flight alongH
While some high in the air should rideG
Dilated bold and strongH
-
Some agitated and adriftI
Against their will should roveJ
Some steering forward sure and swiftI
Should scarcely seem to moveK
-
While others happiest of their kindL
Should in the ether soarM
As if no care would ever findL
No sorrow reach them moreM
-
When soon an arrow from belowN
Should wound them in their flightO
And many a crimson drop should flowN
Before they fell in sightO
-
The rapid and abrupt descentP
The stain'd and ruffled plumeQ
Would seem as if they were not meantP
Their ardour to resumeQ
-
But soon their beauty and their forceR
Sweet hours of rest renewS
Full soon their light their varied courseR
Careering they pursueS
-
Alternately to rise and fallT
Or float along the dayC
And this is Fortune This is allT
I would vouchsafe to sayC
