Invitation, To J.b.c. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE FGHHIJKKLL MNIIOO PNow spring appears with beauty crown'd | A |
And all is light and life around | A |
Why comes not Jane When friendship calls | B |
Why leaves she not Augusta's walls | B |
Where cooling zephyrs faintly blow | C |
Nor spread the cheering healthful glow | C |
That glides through each awaken'd vein | D |
As skimming o'er the spacious plain | D |
We look around with joyous eye | E |
And view no boundaries but the sky | E |
- | |
Already April's reign is o'er | F |
Her evening tints delight no more | G |
No more the violet scents the gale | H |
No more the mist o'erspreads the vale | H |
The lovely queen of smiles and tears | I |
Who gave thee birth no more appears | J |
But blushing May with brow serene | K |
And vestments of a livelier green | K |
Commands the winged choir to sing | L |
And with wild notes the meadows ring | L |
- | |
O come ere all the train is gone | M |
No more to hail thy twenty one | N |
That age which higher honor shares | I |
And well becomes the wreath it wears | I |
From lassitude and cities flee | O |
And breathe the air of heav'n with me | O |
- | |
- | |
MAY | P |
