Human Pleasure Or Pain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKEK LMNM O

When clouds and rain deform the skyA
And light'nings glare aroundB
Amidst the dreary cheerless sceneC
Some comfort may be foundB
-
There will at some far distant spotD
A streak of light appearE
Or when the sullen vapours breakF
The ether will be clearE
-
And if the sun illumes the eastG
And sheds his gladsome rayH
Some boding mist or passing cloudI
Will threat the rising dayH
-
The heart rejoicing in the viewJ
And dancing with delightK
Oft feels the touch of palsied fearE
And sinks at thought of nightK
-
So Hope's bright torch more clearly shinesL
Amidst surrounding gloomM
And beldame Fortune vainly throwsN
Her mantle o'er the tombM
-
-
