To The Obelisk Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBBCCB DEDEED

DURING THE GREAT FROSTA
-
-
Thou sign post of the Desert ObeliskB
Once fronting in thy monumental prideC
Egypt's fierce sun that blazing far and wideC
Sheared her of tree and herb till like a diskB
Her waste stretched shadowless and fraught with riskB
To those who with their beasts of burden hiedC
Across the seas of sand until they spiedC
Thy pillar and their flagging hearts grew briskB
-
Now reared beside out Thames so wintry greyD
Where blocks of ice drift with the drifting streamE
Thou risest o'er the alien prospect SayD
Yon dull blear rayless orb whose lurid gleamE
Tinges the snow draped ships and writhing steamE
Is this the sun which fired thine orient dayD
