To Memory Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCBBC DEDFGHOh in this dearth and winter of the soul | A |
When even Hope still wont to soar and sing | B |
Droopeth a starveling bird whose downy wing | B |
Stiffens ere dead through the dank drift it fall | C |
Yea ere Hope perish utterly I call | C |
On thee fond Memory that thou haste and bring | B |
One leaf one blossom from that far off spring | B |
When love's auroral light lay over all | C |
- | |
Bring but one pansy haply so the thrill | D |
Of poignant yearning for those glad dead years | E |
May like the gusty south breathe o'er the chill | D |
Of frozen grief dissolving it in tears | F |
Till numb Hope stirred by that warm dropping rain | G |
Will deem perchance Love's springtide come again | H |
