The Evening Of The Year Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAABBA DEEDED

Wan mists enwrap the still born dayA
The harebell withers on the heathB
And all the moorland seems to breatheC
The hectic beauty of decayA
Within the open grave of MayA
Dishevelled trees drop wreath on wreathB
Wind wrung and ravelled underneathB
Waste leaves choke up the woodland wayA
-
The grief of many partings nearD
Wails like an echo in the windE
The days of love lie far behindE
The days of loss lie shuddering nearD
Life's morning glory who shall bindE
It is the evening of the yearD
