Panting to set their heel upon my head | B |
Or when alone from many wounds I bled | B |
Unflinching beneath Fortune's random blows | A |
Not when my shuddering hands were doomed to close | C |
The unshrinking eyelids of the stony dead | B |
Not then I missed my God not then but said | B |
'Let me not burden God with all man's woes ' | D |
- | |
But when resurgent from the womb of night | E |
Spring's Oriflamme of flowers waves from the Sod | F |
When peak on flashing Alpine peak is trod | F |
By sunbeams on their missionary flight | E |
When heaven kissed Earth laughs garmented in light | E |
That is the hour in which I miss my God | F |
