And gropings o'er dim paths unknown | B |
Meet where long separate ways have grown | B |
To one and then diverge again | C |

They halt anigh the green wayside | D |
Where groves pant with the impassioned song | E |
Of nightingales wild roses throng | E |
There round them leaning side by side | D |

As close and still more close they cling | F |
Like some weird tale once more in dreams | G |
Lived through with ghastlier horror seems | G |
That old cold lonely wayfairing | F |

Oh close sweet clasp of hands oh sweet | H |
Close beat of heart on happy heart | I |
Beating as though no more apart | I |
Their pulses ever again should beat | H |

One look of love one long embrace | J |
One kiss that welds two lives in one | K |
And lo the sudden lifted sun | K |
Lights their slow feet on separate ways | L |

Fledged by strong love their wing d speech | M |
Is borne awhile from soul to soul | N |
Then ever widening waters roll | N |
And drown their voices each from each | M |
