| Of nightingales wild roses throng | E |
| There round them leaning side by side | D |

| As close and still more close they cling | F |
| Like some weird tale once more in dreams | G |
| Lived through with ghastlier horror seems | G |
| That old cold lonely wayfairing | F |

| Oh close sweet clasp of hands oh sweet | H |
| Close beat of heart on happy heart | I |
| Beating as though no more apart | I |
| Their pulses ever again should beat | H |

| One look of love one long embrace | J |
| One kiss that welds two lives in one | K |
| And lo the sudden lifted sun | K |
| Lights their slow feet on separate ways | L |

| Fledged by strong love their wing d speech | M |
