Reapers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB ACAC DDDD DEDE

Sun Tanned men and women toiling there togetherA
Seven I count in all in yon field of wheatB
Where the rich ripe ears in the harvest weatherA
Glow an orange gold through the sweltering heatB
-
Busy life is still sunk in brooding leisureA
Birds have hushed their singing in the hushed tree topsC
Not a single cloud mars the flawless azureA
Not a shadow moves o'er the moveless cropsC
-
In the grassy shallows that no breath is creasingD
Chestnut coloured cows in the rushes dankD
Stand like cows of bronze save when they flick the teasingD
Flies with switch of tail from each quivering flankD
-
Nature takes a rest even her bees are sleepingD
And the silent wood seems a church that's shutE
But these human creatures cease not from their reapingD
While the corn stands high waiting to be cutE
