Rhyme Scheme: ABAACCB DEFFGGH IJIIKKJLike putting forth upon a sea | A |
On which the moonbeams shimmer | B |
Where reefs and unknown perils be | A |
To wreck yea wreck one utterly | A |
It were to love you lady fair | C |
In whose black braids of billowy hair | C |
The misty moonstones glimmer | B |
- | |
Oh misty moonstone coloured eye | D |
Latticed behind long lashes | E |
Within whose clouded orbs there lies | F |
Like lightning in the sleeping skies | F |
A spark to kindle and ignite | G |
And set a fire of love alight | G |
To burn one's heart to ashes | H |
- | |
I will not put forth on this deep | I |
Of perilous emotion | J |
No though your hands be soft as sleep | I |
They shall not have my heart to keep | I |
Nor draw it to your fatal sphere | K |
Lady you are as much to fear | K |
As is the fickle ocean | J |
