I Would I Were The Glow-worm Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED AFAF GHGH

I would I were the glow worm thou the flowerA
That I might fill thy cup with glimmering lightB
I would I were the bird and thou the bowerA
To sing thee songs throughout the summer nightB
-
I would I were a pine tree deeply rootedC
And thou the lofty cloud beleaguered rockD
Still while the blasts of heaven around us hootedE
To cleave to thee and weather every shockD
-
I would I were the rill and thou the riverA
So might I leaping from some headlong steepF
With all my waters lost in thine for everA
Be hurried onwards to the unfathomed deepF
-
I would what would I not O foolish dreamingG
My words are but as leaves by autumn shedH
That in the faded moonlight idly gleamingG
Drop on the grave where all our love lies deadH
