Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFEF

I planted a rose tree in my gardenA
In early days when the year was youngB
I thought it would bear me roses rosesC
While nights were dewy and days were longD

It bore me once and a white rose onlyE
A lovely rose with petals of lightF
Like the moon in heaven supreme and lonelyE
And the lightning struck it one summer nightF
