Cleave Thou The Waves Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDEFCF

Cleave thou the waves that weltering to and froA
Surge multitudinous The eternal PowersB
Of sun moon stars the air the hurrying hoursB
The winged winds the still dissolving showA
Of clouds in calm or storm for ever flowA
Above thee while the abysmal sea devoursB
The untold dead insatiate where it lowersB
O'er glooms unfathomed limitless belowA
-
No longer on the golden fretted sandsC
Where many a shallow tide abortive chafesD
Mayst thou delay life onward sweeping blendsE
With far off heaven the dauntless one who bravesF
The perilous flood with calm unswerving handsC
The elements sustain cleave thou the wavesF
