Written Upon The Rocks At Tunbridge, Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFF GGHHFF

Hither amongst the Crouds that shunA
The smoaky Town and sultry SunA
In cooling Springs to seek for HealthB
Or throw away superfluous WealthB
A Native of Hibernia cameC
Thus writ her Thoughts but not her NameC
-
Hither the Britons void of CareD
A happy free born Race repairD
Whilst I who feel a diff'rent FateE
Lament my Country's wretched StateE
The pitying Rocks return my LaysF
Just Emblem of the barren BaysF
-
Thus far When lo the God of WitG
Who slightly glanc'd on what was writG
Suspend he cries thy Cares a whileH
My Sackville soon shall bless your lsleH
No longer talk of barren BaysF
Remember 'tis a Dorset swaysF
