Sent As From A School--fellow To My Son Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDDEE FFEE

I grieve to see you waste your TimeA
And turn your Thoughts so much to RhymeA
Be wise your useless Views resignB
And fly the fair delusive NineB
-
I know they try their wonted ArtC
To win your easy youthful HeartC
They talk of an immortal NameD
And promise you the Realms of FameD
A mighty Empire Con 'tis trueE
But wondrous small the RevenueE
-
They'll tell you too to gain their EndsF
That Verse will raise you pow'rful FriendsF
Believe me Youth this is not trueE
The Great think ev'ry Thing their DueE
