An Apology To The Earl Of Orrery Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFF

Not Persia's Monarch could unmov'd surveyA
Those num'rous Hosts which Time must sweep awayA
He wept Misfortunes of a distant DateB
I mourn the Rigour of my instant FateB
The dreaded Hour approaching fast I seeC
When you alas will all be dead to meC
Then cease to wonder if my Bosom riseD
And Tears unbidden rush into my EyesD
'Tis thus and only thus a grateful BreastE
Pours out those Thanks which cannot be express'dE
For O Hibernia when I quit thy CoastF
Such Friends I leave as few could ever boastF
