| To consume the scallops after reflection | C |
| Their whole lives were eating and suffocating | D |
| This is much sadder than tortured people | B |
| In extreme pain we leave our bodies | E |
| And look down to commit the pain to memory | F |
| Like studious angels | G |
| The waiter brought me two fortune cookies | E |
| One future was traumatic enough | H |
| I decided to open just one cookie | F |
| The one on my right side | I |
| It said in blue on a thin white strip | J |
| You must learn to love yourself | K |

| The cookie was much less sweet | L |
| Than my psychiatrist | M |
| Earlier he said he was proud | N |
| That as my tumor grew Myself loathing seemed to shrink | O |
| My teeth made the cookie | F |
| Blades that cut my tongue | P |
| And I spat it out | Q |
| I was with a question for doctor yunus | E |
| But he was on the other coast fast asleep | R |
| I would have asked | S |
| if all of me is the part that s loving | D |

| With certianity that the second cookie | F |

| I imagined the paper as my body a second body for me | F |
| Baking in a clay oven half beneath it and half over head | V |
| I didn t open the cookie though | W |
| I have to grow at some point my imagination cannot always be kicking fate | X |
| As if it were the floor at a stupid party | F |
| But when you decide someone has something to say | E |
| Their silence speak to you too | Y |
| The cookie s clear wrapper had a rooster painted on it | Z |
| The lamp s reflection made it a little sun clutched by the talons deep in the clay | E |
| What s left to love is the part of you that s already dead | V |

| Is busy preparing heaven for the rest | A2 |
| He envisions it as a dream cemetery | F |
| No rabbis wild flowers and scrub everywhere | B2 |
| Rolling hills with nothing marked | C2 |
| Computer chips clipped to the ears of the dead | V |
| So that their loved ones can visit the exact spot | D2 |
| He is unskilled with his hands | E |
| But he is moneyed and shouts well | E2 |
| And it s hard to love people committed to projects | E |
| When I tell him he s abusing the labor | F2 |
| He smiles proudly and says | E |
