They came to us for a reconciliation
They said they were ready to make amends
Truthful and honest they claimed
Men of valour who fought with pride
Never bowed their heads to defeat
Bare we lay our fate in their hands
We became impoverished for their wealth
Ruined our generations for the souls of their unborn
Fragile promises we thought were voices of the nightingale
Empty they left our coast
Wrecked our harvest like plague
Left behind their faeces to feast on
Men of destruction they are
They took away our pride
Leaving us with prejudice
Hatred hot to waste generations
Generations who bore no witness to the detest they held
Loathed by our own brothers
Pain they gave us for love showed
Love reciprocated with envy
Envy for our green fields
Fields toiled day and night in the scourging sun
Naked they left us
For death wished upon us left us sour
Bitter we are
Living in anguish
For a hopeful and dreadful tomorrow

Poet's note: The poem talks about the society we live in. Despite love shown to another, we in one way or the other try to snatch things that don't belong to us. We loath ourselves and store them up for a generation we won't even be alive to see. Many toil day and night in offices but yet their rewards are been taken away from them.
I wrote the poem for every human being out there. we need to stop the injustice we do to others.
The poem carries the feeling of; anger, bitterness, hatred, betrayal
