Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IJKL MDNO PQRS TAUV MWX

They came to us for a reconciliationA
They said they were ready to make amendsB
Truthful and honest they claimedC
Men of valour who fought with prideD
-
Never bowed their heads to defeatE
Bare we lay our fate in their handsF
We became impoverished for their wealthG
Ruined our generations for the souls of their unbornH
-
Fragile promises we thought were voices of the nightingaleI
Empty they left our coastJ
Wrecked our harvest like plagueK
Left behind their faeces to feast onL
-
Men of destruction they areM
They took away our prideD
Leaving us with prejudiceN
Hatred hot to waste generationsO
-
Generations who bore no witness to the detest they heldP
Loathed by our own brothersQ
Pain they gave us for love showedR
Love reciprocated with envyS
-
Envy for our green fieldsT
Fields toiled day and night in the scourging sunA
Naked they left usU
For death wished upon us left us sourV
-
Bitter we areM
Living in anguishW
For a hopeful and dreadful tomorrowX

Poet's note: The poem talks about the society we live in. Despite love shown to another, we in one way or the other try to snatch things that don't belong to us. We loath ourselves and store them up for a generation we won't even be alive to see. Many toil day and night in offices but yet their rewards are been taken away from them. I wrote the poem for every human being out there. we need to stop the injustice we do to others. The poem carries the feeling of; anger, bitterness, hatred, betrayal
