Words For Departure Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBB DEBFGE HIJK LBM NB OKP QE RST GUVB WE

Nothing was remembered nothing forgottenA
When we awoke wagons were passing on the warm summer pavementsB
The window sills were wet from rain in the nightC
Birds scattered and settled over chimneypotsB
As among grotesque treesB
-
Nothing was accepted nothing looked beyondD
Slight voiced bells separated hour from hourE
The afternoon sifted coolnessB
And people drew together in streets becoming desertedF
There was a moon and light in a shop frontG
And dusk falling like precipitous waterE
-
Hand clasped handH
Forehead still bowed to foreheadI
Nothing was lost nothing possessedJ
There was no gift nor denialK
-
-
I have remembered youL
You were not the town visited onceB
Nor the road falling behind running feetM
-
You were as awkward as fleshN
And lighter than frost or ashesB
-
You were the rindO
And the white juiced appleK
The song and the words waiting for musicP
-
-
You have learned the beginningQ
Go from mine to the otherE
-
Be together eat dance despairR
Sleep be threatened endureS
You will know the way of thatT
-
But at the end be insolentG
Be absurd strike the thing short offU
Be mad only do not let talkV
Wear the bloom from silenceB
-
And go away without fire or lanternW
Let there be some uncertainty about your departureE
