Song Of The Jade Cup Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEDFBBGHIFJKILKM

A jade cup was broken because old age cameA
too soon to give fulfilment to hopes after drinkingB
three cups of wine I wiped my sword andC
started to dance under an autumn moon firstD
singing in a high voice then unable to haltE
tears coming I remember the day when firstD
I was summoned to court and I was feasted splendidlyF
writing poems in praise of the Emperor makingB
jokes with officials around several times changingB
my horse taking the best from theG
imperial stables with my whip studded withH
jade and coral presented to me by the EmperorI
my life was free and easy people calling meF
the quot Banished Immortal quot Hsi Shih was goodJ
at smiling as well as frowning uselessK
for ordinary girls to try and imitate herI
Surely it was only her loveliness the king adoredL
but unfortunately jealousy within the palaceK
led to her deathM
