Tz'u No. 1 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEFGHIJKLMNOAPQRQS TNMUPV

To the tune Courtyard Filled with FragranceA
-
Fragrant grass beside the pondB
green shade over the hallC
a clear cold comes throughD
the window curtainsE
crescent moon beyond the golden barsF
and a flute soundsG
as if someone were comingH
but alone on my mat with a cupI
gazing sadly into nothingnessJ
I want to call backK
the blackberry flowersL
that have fallenM
though pear blossoms remainN
for in that distant yearO
I came to love their fresh fragranceA
scenting my sleeveP
as we culled petals over the fireQ
when as far as the eye could seeR
were dragon boats on the riverQ
graceful horses and gay cartsS
when I did not fear the mad windsT
and violent rainN
as we drank to good fortuneM
with warm blackberry wineU
now I cannot conceiveP
how to retrieve that timeV
