Pruning Flowering Gums Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDCAEAFCFGHFIFDJD KLKCICMINJOJFPFIQIII

One summer day along the streetA
Men pruned the gumsB
To make them neatA
The tender branches white with flowersC
Lay in the sunD
For hours and hoursC
And every hour they grew more sweetA
More honey likeE
Until the streetA
Smelt like a hive withouten beesF
But still the gardenersC
Lopped the treesF
Then came the children out of schoolG
Noisy and separateH
As their rule Of being is The spangled treesF
Gave them one heartI
Such power to pleaseF
Had all the flowering branches strownD
Around for themJ
To make their ownD
Then such a murmuring aroseK
As made the earsL
Confirm the noseK
And give the lie to eyes For hoursC
Child bees hummedI
In the honey flowersC
They gathered sprigs and armfuls SomeM
Ran with their fragrantI
Burdens homeN
And still returned and after themJ
Would drag great boughsO
Some stripped a stemJ
Of rosy flowers and played with theseF
Never such loveP
Had earthly treesF
As these young creatures gave By nightI
The treasured spraysQ
Of their delightI
Were garnered every one The streetI
Looked as the council liked it neatI
