The Final Painting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDEFGHHIJKLHHHMNO PQHRSTH

The white cloud passed over the landA
there is sea always round the landA
the sky is blue always above the cloudB
the cloud in the blue continues to moveC
nothing is limited by the canvas or frameD
the white cloud can be pictured like anyE
other clouds or like a fist of woolF
or a white fur roseG
The white cloud passes a shadow acrossH
the landscape and so there is a passing greynessH
The grey and the white both envelopI
the watcher until he too is drawn into the pictureJ
It is all a journey from a room through a doorK
down stairs and out into the streetL
The cloud could possess the houseH
The watchers have a mutual confidenceH
with the approaching string of white cloudsH
It is beyond spoken words what they areM
silently mouthing to the skyN
There was no mystery in this only the firmO
outline of people in overcoats on a hillsideP
and the line of clouds above themQ
The sky is blue The cloud white with touchesH
of grey the rest the landscape belowR
can be left to the imaginationS
The whole painting quietly dissolved itselfT
into its surrounding cloudsH
