Rhyme Scheme: ABCD CDEF GHIF CJAKLMC CFNIO

The blur of sky and seaA
this white grey morningB
before the day burnsC
moves into blueD
-
the sweet butter scent of gorseC
the sweet scent of youD
dear daughter ghost in my headE
dear daughterF
-
the mudflats and sailings shineG
as the children run byH
along marsh edge and the high dyke bankI
egret and oystercatcher dunlin and sandpiperF
-
In the distance a train passesC
where a short neat manJ
pushes a refreshment trolleyA
his clean white shirt immaculately ironedK
his black waistcoat just rightL
the quiet dignity of himM
as he passes through the hoursC
-
You d know this the particularsC
were you hereF
held in the wide sky arcN
the children running on the dyke bankI
absorbed in this worldO
