Oft have I flung myself beside my horse | B |
To drink the water from the roadside mire | C |
And felt the liquid through my being course | B |
Stilling the anguish of my thirst's desire | D |

A simple want so easily allayed | E |
After the burning march water and shade | E |

Also I lay against the loved one's heart | F |
Finding fulfilment in that resting place | G |
Feeling my longing quenched was but a part | F |
Of nature's ceaseless striving for the race | G |

But now I know not what they would with me | A |
Matter or Force or God if Gods there be | A |

I wait I question Nature heeds me not | H |
She does but urge in answer to my prayer | I |
Arise and do Alas she adds not what | J |
Arise and go Alas she says not where | I |
