Three Songs Of Zahir-u-din Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBAB DEDEDE FGFGFG HIHIHI JKJKJK

The tropic day's redundant charmsA
Cool twilight soothes awayB
The sun slips down behind the palmsC
And leaves the landscape greyB
I want to take you in my armsA
And kiss your lips awayB
-
I wake with sunshine in my eyesD
And find the morning blueE
A night of dreams behind me liesD
And all were dreams of youE
Ah how I wish the while I riseD
That what I dream were trueE
-
The weary day's laborious paceF
I hasten and beguileG
By fancies which I backwards traceF
To things I loved erstwhileG
The weary sweetness of your faceF
Your faint illusive smileG
-
The silken softness of your hairH
Where faint bronze shadows areI
Your strangely slight and youthful airH
No passions seem to marI
Oh why since Fate has made you fairH
Must Fortune keep you farI
-
Thus spent the day so long and brightJ
Less hot and brilliant seemsK
Till in a final flare of lightJ
The sun withdraws his beamsK
Then in the coolness of the nightJ
I meet you in my dreamsK
