The Cactus Thicket Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG BB

The Atlas summits were veiled in purple gloomA
But a golden moon above rose clear and freeB
The cactus thicket was ruddy with scarlet bloomA
Where through the silent shadow he came to meB
-
All my sixteen summers were but for thisC
That He should pass and pausing find me fairD
You Stars bear golden witness My lips were hisE
I would not live till others have fastened thereD
-
Oh take me Death ere ever the charm shall fadeF
Ah close these eyes ere ever the dream grow dimG
I welcome thee with rapture and unafraidF
Even as yesternight I welcomed HimG
-
-
Not now Impatient one it well may beB
That ten moons hence I shall return for theeB
