Shivratri (the Night Of Shiva) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDCEFGF HADAIJKJ LMNMOPQP RSTSFUVU

While the procession passed at RamesramA
-
-
Nearer and nearer cometh the carB
Where the Golden Goddess towersC
Sweeter and sweeter grows the airD
From a thousand trampled flowersC
We two rest in the Temple shadeE
Safe from the pilgrim floodF
This path of the Gods in olden daysG
Ran royally red with bloodF
-
Louder and louder and louder yetH
Throbs the sorrowful drumA
That is the tortured world's despairD
Never a moment dumbA
Shriller and shriller shriek the flutesI
Nature's passionate needJ
Paler and paler grow my lipsK
And still thou bid'st them bleedJ
-
Deeper and deeper and deeper stillL
Never a pause for painM
Darker and darker falls the nightN
That golden torches stainM
Closer ah closer and still more closeO
Till thy soul reach my soulP
Further further out on the tideQ
From the shores of self controlP
-
Glowing glowing to whitest heatR
Thy feverish passions burnS
Fiercer and fiercer cruelly fierceT
To thee my senses yearnS
Fainter and fainter runs my bloodF
With desperate fight for breathU
This my Beloved thou sayest is LoveV
Or I should have deemed it DeathU
