Reminiscence Of Mahomed Akram Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB CCDDE CFCFGHHG DDBDDDDCIJDEK CLC

I shall never forget you never Never escapeA
Your memory woven about the beautiful things of lifeB
-
The sudden Thought of your Face is like a WoundC
When it comes unsoughtC
On some scent of Jasmin Lilies or pale TuberoseD
Any one of the sweet white fragrant flowersD
Flowers I used to love and lay in your hairE
-
Sunset is terribly sad I saw you standC
Tall against the red and the gold like a slender palmF
The light wind stirred your hair as you waved your handC
Waved farewell as ever serene and calmF
To me the passion wearied and tost and tornG
Riding down the road in the gathering greyH
Since that dayH
The sunset red is empty the gold forlornG
-
Often across the Banqueting board at nightsD
Men linger about your name in careless praiseD
The name that cuts deep into my soul like a knifeB
And the gay guest faces and flowers and leaves and lightsD
Fade away from the failing sense in a hazeD
And the music swaysD
Far away in unmeasured distanceD
I cannot forgetC
I cannot escape What are the Stars to meI
Stars that meant so much too much in my youthJ
Stars that sparkled about your eyesD
Made a radiance round your hairE
What are they nowK
-
Lingering lights of a Finished FeastC
Little lingering sparks ratherL
Of a Light that is long gone outC
