On Pilgrimage Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CACA DEDE FFFF

Oh youthful bearer of my palanquinA
Thy glossy hair lies loosened on thy neckB
The tears of labour gem thy velvet skinA
Whose even texture knows no other fleckB
-
Thy slender shoulder strains beneath my weightC
Too fair thou art for work sweet slave of mineA
Would that this idle breast reversing fateC
A willing serf to love supported thineA
-
I smell the savage scent of sun warmed furD
Close in the Jungle musky hot and sweetE
The air comes from thy shoulder even as myrrhD
Would we were as the panthers free to meetE
-
The Temple road is steep I grieve to seeF
Thy slender ankles bruised among the clodsF
Oh my Beloved if I might worship theeF
Beauty is greater far than all the GodsF
