My Desire Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGF HIJI KCLC MNON PQRQ STUT VWXW EFVF

Fate has given me many a giftA
To which men most aspireB
Lovely precious and costly thingsC
But not my heart's desireD
-
Many a man has a secret dreamE
Of where his soul would beF
Mine is a low verandah'd houseG
In a tope beside the seaF
-
Over the roof tall palms should waveH
Swaying from side to sideI
Every night we should fall asleepJ
To the rhythm of the tideI
-
The dawn should be gay with song of birdsK
And the stir of fluttering wingsC
Surely the joy of life is hidL
In simple and tender thingsC
-
At eve the waves would shimmer with goldM
In the rosy sunset raysN
Emerald velvet flats of riceO
Would rest the landward gazeN
-
A boat must rock at the laterite stepsP
In a reef protected poolQ
For we should sail through the starlit nightR
When the winds were calm and coolQ
-
I am so tired of all this worldS
Its folly and fret and careT
Find me a little scented homeU
Amongst thy loosened hairT
-
Give me a soft and secret placeV
Against thine amber breastW
Where hidden away from all mankindX
My soul may come to restW
-
Many a man has a secret dreamE
Of where his life might beF
Mine is a lovely lonely placeV
With sunshine and the seaF
