Malay Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GAGA HIHI JKJK LMLM

The Stars await serene and whiteA
The unarisen moonB
Oh come and stay with me to nightA
Beside the salt LagoonB
-
My hut is small but as you lieC
You see the lighted shoreD
And hear the rippling water sighC
Beneath the pile raised floorD
-
No gift have I of jewels or flowersE
My room is poor and bareF
But all the silver sea is oursE
And all the scented airF
-
Blown from the mainland where there growsG
Th' Intriguer of the NightA
The flower that you have named Tube roseG
Sweet scented slim and whiteA
-
The flower that when the air is stillH
And no land breezes blowI
From its pale petals can distilH
A phosphorescent glowI
-
I see your ship at anchor rideJ
Her captive lightning shineK
Before she takes to morrow's tideJ
Let this one night be mineK
-
Though in the language of your landL
My words are poor and fewM
Oh read my eyes and understandL
I give my youth to youM
