The Poem You Asked For Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEE BFB EED GHI DJK LAE MEB DNO EEP AQ

My poem would eat nothingA
I tried giving it waterB
but it said noC
-
worrying meD
Day after dayE
I held it up to the llightE
-
turning it overB
but it only pressed its lipsF
more tightly togetherB
-
It grew sullen like a toadE
through with being teasedE
I offered it moneyD
-
my clothes my car with a full tankG
But the poem stared at the floorH
Finally I cupped it inI
-
my hands and carried it gentlyD
out into the soft air into theJ
evening traffic wondering howK
-
to end things between usL
For now it had begun breathingA
putting on more andE
-
more hard rings of fleshM
And the poem demanded the foodE
it drank up all the waterB
-
beat me and took my moneyD
tore the faded clothesN
off my backO
-
said ShitE
and walked slowly awayE
slicking its hair downP
-
Said it was goingA
over to your placeQ
