Conflict in the Middle East: What Drives It? Where will it end? This study will provide the reader a significant understanding of the historic and current issues that drive the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East and the potential for these factors to escalate into a nuclear conflict. The historic background provides an overview of the religious and regional issues that are the base cause for the animosity and aggression between these nations. The nuclear development, intent, and international posture are also reviewed. Concentrating on these main factors, the Lockwood method of numerical analysis is used to predict the most likely future events that could result in a nuclear conflict during the period of 2005 to 2020. This study concentrates on Iran, Iraq and Israel - the three main players in the future stability of the Middle East. An extensive bibliography is included for the reader who wishes further information on Middle East nuclear developments.

The empty bar that someone was supposed to swing to him Did not arrive, & so his outstretched flesh itself became A darkening trapeze. The two other acrobats were thieves. --from "Elegy with a Darkening Trapeze Inside It" The Darkening Trapeze collects the last poems by Larry Levis, written during the extraordinary blaze of his final years when his poetry expanded into the ambitious operatic masterpieces he is known for. Edited and with an afterword by David St. John and published twenty years after Levis's death, this collection contains major unpublished works, including final elegies, brief lyrics, and a coda believed to be the last poem Levis wrote, a heart-wrenching poem about his son. The Darkening Trapeze is an astonishing collection by a poet many consider to be among the greatest of late-twentieth-century American poetry.

Poem of the day

Ernest Dowson Poem
 by Ernest Dowson

Beyond the need of weeping,
Beyond the reach of hands,
May she be quietly sleeping,
In what dim nebulous lands?
Ah, she who understands!

The long, long winter weather,
These many years and days,
