Rhyme Scheme: A BCDBEEB FGHI JKJKL IFFJE

A
-
Looking into the eyes of Gerard de NervalB
You notice the giant sea crabs risingC
Which is what happensD
When you look into the eyes of Gerard de NervalB
Always the same thing the giant sea crabsE
The claws in their vague red holstersE
Moving around a little doubtfullyB
-
-
-
But looking into the eyes of Pierre ReverdyF
Is like throwing the editorial pageG
Out into the rainH
And then riding alone on the subwayI
-
Also it is like avoiding your fatherJ
You are hiding and he looks for youK
Under each vine he is coming nearerJ
And nearer What can you doK
But ignore himL
-
-
-
In either case soon you are riding alone on a subwayI
Which is not importantF
What is important is to avoidF
Looking too closely into the eyes of your fatherJ
That formal eclipseE
