Verses Occasioned By Whitshed's [1] Motto On His Coach Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFGGHHIIJJKK DDLLAA

Libertas et natale solumA
Fine words I wonder where you stole 'emA
Could nothing but thy chief reproachB
Serve for a motto on thy coachB
But let me now the words translateC
Natale solum my estateC
My dear estate how well I love itD
My tenants if you doubt will prove itD
They swear I am so kind and goodE
I hug them till I squeeze their bloodF
Libertas bears a large importG
First how to swagger in a courtG
And secondly to show my furyH
Against an uncomplying juryH
And thirdly 'tis a new inventionI
To favour Wood and keep my pensionI
And fourthly 'tis to play an odd trickJ
Get the great seal and turn out BroderickJ
And fifthly you know whom I meanK
To humble that vexatious DeanK
And sixthly for my soul to barter itD
For fifty times its worth to CarteretD
Now since your motto thus you construeL
I must confess you've spoken once trueL
Libertas et natale solumA
You had good reason when you stole 'emA
