Silent are the woods and the dim green boughs areA
Hushed in the twilight yonder in the path throughB
The apple orchard is a tired plough boyC
Calling the cows homeD

A bright white star blinks the pale moon rounds butE
Still the red lurid wreckage of the sunsetF
Smoulders in smoky fire and burns onG
The misty hill topsH

Ghostly it grows and darker the burningI
Fades into smoke and now the gusty oaks areA
A silent army of phantoms throngingI
A land of shadowsJ
