The Robe Of Grass Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE EEGHHG IIJKKJ

HERE lies the woven garb he woreA
Of grass he gathered by the shoreA
Whereon the phantom waves still fret and foamB
And sigh along the visionary sandC
Where is he now you cry What desolate landC
Gleams round him in dull mockery of homeB
-
You knew him by the robe he castD
About him grey and worn at lastD
It fades you murmur changes lives and diesE
Why has he vanished Whither is he fledF
And is there any light among the deadF
Can any dream come singing where he liesE
-
Ah peace lift up your clouded eyesE
Nor where this curious relic liesE
Grope in the blown dust for the print of feetG
Dim tottering ghastly sounds are these but heH
Laughs now as ever still aloof and freeH
Eager and wild and passionate and fleetG
-
Because he has dropped the part he playedI
Shall love be baffled and dismayedI
Let the frail earth and all its visions meltJ
And let the heart that loves the eye that seesK
Seek him amid immortal mysteriesK
For lo he dwells where he has ever dweltJ
