The Grey Tide Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIHI JKJK LMLM

The cold green rocks and lapping wavesA
Are all my world as here I sitB
With downcast eye and heart that cravesA
The bush and blue sky over itB
-
The tide of years is washing byC
The misty water drifts betweenD
A soul with wings that may not flyC
And shadowy realms that might have beenE
-
Too late too late alas I knowF
The track that winds by shining leavesG
From where the flood reflects belowF
The greyness of the heart that grievesG
-
Another yet may tread the wayH
And offer at that hidden shrineI
His gift of rolled and twisted clayH
And set his lips to holy wineI
-
Another yet may tinge the flameJ
Upon that altar blue or redK
And freely call upon Her nameJ
And taste at will the blessed breadK
-
The waves are grey about the rocksL
A cold wind sets across the seaM
A travelling ray of sunlight mocksL
The shadow on the heart of meM
