The Fugitive Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CAACAA

His shatter d Empire thunders to the groundA
A myriad hearts peal laughter as it fallsB
While red flags flutter on its ruined wallsB
And living joy darts all the world aroundA
The imperial criminal naked and uncrownedA
Breathing a shuddering air of curses crawlsB
Baffled and beaten from his gorgeous hallsB
While Vengeance halloos lapdog cur and houndA
-
Behold the arrogant humbled and rejoiceC
The grasping hand holds naught but flying dustA
And Envy meets the pitiless grin of FateA
Take warning of your own heart s inward voiceC
Bid your own soul be humble and distrustA
The yelping promises of greed and hateA
