The Chain Gang Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

Borne in the car along a crowded wayA
Sun soaked I saw the world like shadows glideB
Or phantom boats upon a running tideB
Driven through flying fog at break of dayA
The chain gang Yes I heard a woman sayA
Here in this very street I glanced asideB
And saw the fetters that she flashed in prideB
And turned again to watch the world's arrayA
Clearly I saw men scurrying on the hourC
Young girls who weary all day on dainty feetD
Dandies whose socks betoken infinite painsE
The life that springs and withers like a flowerC
I heard the gangs go clanking down the streetD
Intolerably patient of their chainsE
